Sitting high above the Hutt Valley with uninterrupted 270-degree panoramic views, the challenge for this project was to integrate the landscape, the architecture and the interior design.
Making the most of the northern aspect of the site, the design captures the solar energy and stores it within the suspended concrete floor. Large stacking doors next to the decks open to create a breezeway and large cantilever rooftops over the outdoor living spaces protect against the elements. The northern deck cantilevers over the northern cliff, proving a sense of floating in space.
Central heating, over spec insulation and double-glazing completed the sustainable features of this project.
'The challenge for this project was to cleverly integrate the elements of landscape, architecture, interior design and the immediate environment into the holistic design'
