Remuera Renovation

Project Brief:

The site is situated within a leafy pocket of an inner city suburb, north facing with a view of the Waitemata Harbour. The existing 1960s home was completely original, built with the best of materials, all of which have remained untouched since being built. Our brief was to rejuvenate the house, cleverly integrate modern living into this 'timeless classic' while retaining the identity of what was 'bespoke' for its day.

The kitchen and living areas needed to be more cohesive with an open plan configuration with the removal of carefully selected walls. The upper deck needed to be replaced, enlarged and connected to the lower pool outdoor area. Large bi-folding doors were installed from all living areas onto the new deck and windows enlarged to allow more light to enter the house. The colour pallet was kept simple with the careful integration of high quality natural materials ensured the original architecture was preserved.
